Mosaic 2014: Omar Sosa & Paolo Fresu

Musical soulmates who have bridged the Atlantic gulf between their countries of origin, Cuban pianist and composer Omar Sosa and Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu have created a one-of-a-kind musical confluence fuelled by quiet energy and shared genius. Jazz lovers across the U.S have caught on to what aficionados in Europe have relished for years, and have been charmed by the duo's propulsive performances that display a perfect combination of Sosa's Afro-Cuban influenced percussive style and Fresu's understated melodic phrasings that recall the spirit of Miles Davis. Now, the duo makes their way to Singapore with a wellspring of compelling jazz fusion explorations in tow. Japanese tap dancer Kazu Kumagai will join this exposition in a special segment, using his movement and footwork to add a visual and percussive dimension to the musical exchange.
