"We record a bit of ourselves in every song that is written as an observation or musing of the times. The songs themselves are an entry in the musical diary of our young country."
"The Diarists" are a collective formed in 2012 to curate spaces for musicians in Singapore to perform with an emphasis on creating environments suitable for musical appreciation.
Hi! I'm Harith Rahman! I make covers on youtube and would love a chance to perform for an audience since I haven't been able to do so in forever. I sing acoustic songs mostly and it's just me and my guitar. Just simple acoustic sounds and my voice.
Hi, my name is Muhammad Firdaus. I love music since young and recently started composing my own songs. I have performed on stage as a dancer and an acapella singer with a group, so it'll be my first time performing solo with an acoustic guitar. Also, I am interested in knowing the singer-songwriters from Singapore so that I can learn from their experiences and of course, make new friends.
18-year-old aspiring singer-songwriter, not the most experienced in love and life but I still write about them anyway. Full time student, part time bedroom artist.
I am a 19-year old singer-songwriter who has been playing the guitar for 4 years and been writing songs for 2 and a half. I perform live as a one-man band with a loop pedal. My songs span a range of genres, such as acoustic or Pop. I record and produce my own tracks, and the songs I have released thus far can also be performed live in exactly the same way as the recordings. The songs I write are based on experiences that have happened to me or to my friends, with ideas and messages I want to share. All of my songs have a story or meaning behind them, and I believe that to be the most important part of music, and this influences the way I write.
Christiane Mikaela is a pin up girl well known for her trademark vintage hairdos and sultry pipes, and an active member of Singapore’s local music scene since 2012. She has been singing, writing and playing since she was 6, composing in 40’s jukebox genres like blues and swing with a Spanish twist. Christiane never fails to deliver musical poetry with her cheeky but unique rockabilly charm.
Christiane has garnered national recognition through events like Singapore Night Festival, NEA’s Eco Music Challenge and Noise Singapore, and has been featured in prints like JUICE & Straits Times. Her “Bomb in a Shell” debut EP is in the brewing cauldron right now!
Echelon is a 5 piece alternative band, formed in 2015. With previous members from Audiocean and 4Thirty, they were in search of a new sound, musical style and outfit. Having discovered bandmates with like-minded direction, Echelon embarked on coming together to create serious music despite their various influences.
