The Steve McQueens are a neo-vintage soul band from Singapore influenced by the likes of the soulful and sultry and the eclectic and eccentric, such as Theolonius Monk, James Brown, Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, Brad Mehldau and Robert Glasper. Their music, an amalgamation of soul, jazz, pop and some blues, is a groove-based hybrid of tight arrangements and freely improvised sounds. Since their debut at the Sultan Jazz Club in April 2013, the group has performed at BluJaz and Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, and have released the albums Einstein Moments and Sea Monster.
