TPCC Presents: The Silent Realm in Majesty

"O be silent, world, with your blaring lies, Do not disturb the truth of this sleep!" - Die Stimme des Kindes The Philharmonic Chamber Choir (TPCC) is thrilled to present a selection of modern German a cappella works exploring the themes of Chaos and the Divine Rest, in collaboration with distinguished choral conductor Manfred Schreier (Germany). In the midst of confusion and weariness, we are pulled towards the celestial innocence of sleep and respite. A mysterious world beguiles and enchants us: from the solace of Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen (I am lost to the world) by Gustav Mahler; to the warmth of Die Stimme des Kindes (The voice of the child) by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi; through the tumult of Clytus Gottwald's stunning arrangement of Die Vorstellung des Chaos from Joseph Haydn's Die Schöpfung (The Creation). Manfred Schreier is a distinguished lecturer and professor of choral and orchestral conducting in institutions including the Musikhochschule Trossingen; the Folkwang Hochschule Essen; and the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, where he is currently lecturing. As the founder of numerous ensembles, he has been an active proponent of contemporary and avant-garde choral repertoire in Germany, and has also collaborated extensively with the International Bach Academy as well as Clytus Gottwald's Schola Cantorum. Come and experience Singapore's arguably most outstanding a cappella chamber choir conducted by Manfred Schreier, in this programme of rarely performed and heard German choral gems that will enrapture you within the Silent Realm in Majesty.
