Also known as “From Holberg's Time”, Grieg’s Holberg Suite was written to celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of Norwegian writer Ludvig Baron Holberg. Composed in the beautiful town of Bordighera in Italy, the Fantaisie for violin and harp by Saint-Saëns is laced with gentle flowing melodies and was dedicated to sisters Marianne and Clara Eissler. The concert also features Elgar’s Serenade for String Orchestra and Ginastera’s Cantos del Tucuman.
