Created by award-winning choreographer and filmmaker Su e Healey with music by New Zealand jazz legend Mike Nock\, Virtuosi is a fe ature length documentary about the drive to be an artist and the special na ture of virtuosity in dance. Through exhilarating dance and stories from th e heart\, Virtuosi reveals intimate and astounding portraits of eight New Z ealand dance artists. Destined for greatness\, these artists all left their homeland in their youth to pursue careers around the world. They have each achieved remarkable things in the world of contemporary dance and through this film\, audiences have the rare chance to witness their artistry as the y reflect on their careers.

About Sue Healey
\n\nSue is a multi-award
-winning choreographer\, educator\, filmmaker and installation artist.
\n
\nBased in Sydney\, since 2000 she has created 4 major collections
:
\nNiche series (2002-04)\, In Time series (2005-07)\, Curiosities se
ries (2008-12) and On View series (2013 - present). These encompass over 30
works across live performance\, dance film\, gallery installations and int
ernational collaborations. They have won awards nationally and internationa
lly and the major works from each series have been presented by Sydney Oper
a House and have toured to Melbourne\, Canberra\, New Zealand and Japan.
Experimenting with form and perception\, Healey creates dance for d
iverse spaces: theatres\, galleries and the camera. Her films have been fin
alists in major international film festivals and have been broadcast by Aus
tralian and European television networks. Healey is an acknowledged pioneer
of dance on screen. Her films are widely acclaimed and have won many award
s\, screening in over 30 countries. Virtuosi (feature-length documentary) h
as screened in New York\, Montreal\, Amsterdam\, Prague\, Portugal\, Berlin
\, Hobart\, Auckland Arts Festival\, DocEdge festival Wellington\, American
Dance Festival and many other international festivals in 2013/14. The film
won an Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance on Film
2013 and a Silver ACS award for cinematographer Judd Overton. Her film The
Golds won Diamond award at IPAMA\, Indonesia 2015 and will screen in Linco
ln Centre New York\, Dance on Camera Festival 2016.
