Vans Musicians Wanted returns to Singapore, open for submissions now

Since its inception in 2016, Vans Musicians Wanted has been a highly anticipated events for bands in Southeast Asia. This year, it's no different – and it's going to be bigger than ever.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept of Vans Musicians Wanted, here's a quick breakdown. Musicians across various genres are welcomed to submit their demos to the competition, where they stand a chance to take the stage at the local Vans Musicians Wanted showcase. Funk, rock, pop, metal, hip-hop, electronic artists and more are all welcome! This year, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea and China are holding Vans Musician Wanted competitions and showcases.

Acts who submit their music will then be showcased on the Vans Musicians Wanted website, where the public can then vote for their favourites (voting is limited to 1 vote per musician per day). Shortlisted acts will then battle it out at a live showcase in August, where only one can win the opportunity to play the House of Vans Guangzhou stage in China on 22 September, opening for rapper ScHoolBoy Q. They'll also have their music listed on Vans' Apple Music Playlist, and receive vinyl keepsakes of their own music, pressed by Vans. The top 5 will also win limited Vans shoes.

The judges for this year's Singapore contest come from diverse musical backgrounds and scenes. There's Azean Rot, manager of local grindcore legends Wormrot, rapper THELIONCITYBOY, Elijah Kislevitz from Vans Singapore, Bandwagon founder Clarence Chan and one more industry professional yet to be announced.
