They always say that there's no one better to be than yourself—regardless of what anyone else says or does.

To show that, rappers Al Cizarr, Mixed Miyagi, and Ankhten Brown have come together to remind everyone that it's okay to lead your life however you please. To kick off 2022, the trio banded together to make 'ROCKA BYE', a track all about stopping at nothing to reach your goals.

"The song is about not being told what to do. It’s sticking to your own lifestyle and reaching your goals regardless of who’s in the way," said Mixed Miyagi.

"It’s definitely a 'don't f*** with me' vibe but also showcases each of our backgrounds, upbringings, and battles," said Ankhten Brown.

"In life, just doing your own thing builds jealousy and envy so we just do our own thing and don't care if we express it," added Al Cizarr.

Beyond being a power anthem all about walking around the world with your head held up high, 'ROCKA BYE' also comes as a showcase of unity amidst diversity. Helmed by bpm plus asia and M.A.U Collective, the collaboration marks the two collectives' ongoing mission to support and uplift multicultural hip-hop.

Acting as a homage to their culture, Al Cizarr, Mixed Miyagi, and Ankhten Brown—who all come from various Asian and African backgrounds—tapped into their experiences growing up between different worlds and turned them into catchy verses that resonate with you no matter where you're from.

"I’m from Vietnam. I almost always give my motherland a mention in my music because it’s a part of me and who I am. I believe it’s very important to know your roots and remember where you come from," said Mixed Miyagi.

"It made me who I am. I’m proud of my different cultural upbringings and I showcase them on every track," said Ankhten Brown.

Similar to their cultures coming together, the three sonically distinct rappers also created a track that beautifully merged their individual sounds, highlighting their own musicality and artistry.

"When it comes to music, anybody on planet earth can synchronize! Music is universal, we all go through the same thing but express it in different ways," said Al Cizarr.

"I felt like the track just felt right for each of us. Although we each have different styles and sounds, we were still able to attack the instrumental in our own unique way to create something that has different dynamics keeping it interesting," added Mixed Miyagi.
