All The Cool Cats: Esplanade Presents Jazz In July

ESTIMATED

Baybeats may be over, but that doesn't mean The Esplanade is taking a break from festivals. Instead of distorted electric guitars and yelling vocals, smooth basslines and swanky saxophones are taking over the theatres on the bay throughout the month in Jazz In July 2014!

Already in its sixth iteration, the month-long jazz extravaganza celebrates the roots of the genre, taking it to new heights and horizons. The festivities spill across the Esplanade venue where audiences will be treated to a colossal volume of Singapore's best jazz talents every single day in the month of July at the Concourse and Waterfront Stage.

Be dazzled by the esteemed likes of Dawn Wong & The Shanghai Jazz Club, bringing back China's golden voices of the 1930s arranged in authentic Shanghai jazz music or groove to the neo-soul tunes of The Suitcase - featuring sensations in their own right Euntaek Kim on keys, Jase Sng on bass and Aaron James Lee on drums - at the outdoor theatre featuring vocal powerhouses Allie Soh, Charlie Lim and more.

If you're looking for something a little more swing, there's Big Band Sundays for folks to relive the golden age of the roaring 20's every Sunday with four of Singapore's big bands including the likes of Tanglin Rose Big Band and SWS City Swing. A little kebaya jazz is also in order as we swing closer to Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

There's always something to look forward to for everyone, and best part of all is that everything's for free! So drop by the Esplanade anytime this whole July to administer a little jazzy sophistication into your bloodstream.
