An orchestral tribute concert to George Michael is coming to Singapore

Wham! member and musical icon George Michael passed away on Christmas Day 2016, a loss that was mourned worldwide by fans and others touched particularly by the revelations of Michael's unsung philanthropy that circulated in the days after his passing.

For two nights this December, Singaporean fans will be able to celebrate his legacy and bask in his music at Faith & Freedom: The Music of George Michael, a 90-minute orchestral tribute concert at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands that will via an extensive setlist and narration, take audiences from Michael's early days in Wham! all the way to the peaks of his solo career.

The daunting task of doing Michael's vocals justice will fall to Australian vocalist Matt Allen, the head of Contemporary Voice at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts and founder and director of the academy's gospel choir, and three other vocal talents from Western Australia.

They will be supported by a full choir featuring "some of Singapore's best freelance vocal talents," according to a press release from promoter and theatrical entertainment presenter Base Entertainment Asia. Australian conductor Jessica Gethin will serve as conductor for Singaporean freelance musicians.
