Bandcamp joins Epic Games: "We share a vision of building the most open, artist-friendly ecosystem in the world."

Bandcamp has joined one of the world's leading game developers Epic Games.

In an announcement made on 2 March, Ethan Diamond, who co-founded and acts as CEO for the music marketplace, revealed that they have been acquired by Epic Games, which are most known for their popular titles like Fortnite and Fall Guys.

Since its establishment in 2008, Bandcamp has been an independent platform dedicated to building a space for artists and fans to come together. In this recent move, Diamond ensured that the company will continue their mission, using Epic Games to further expand globally and build on several platform features like album pages, mobile apps, and more.

"We share a vision of building the most open, artist-friendly ecosystem in the world, and together we’ll be able to create even more opportunities for artists to be compensated fairly for their work," said Diamond in an official statement.

"Bandcamp will keep operating as a standalone marketplace and music community, and I will continue to lead our team. The products and services you depend on aren’t going anywhere, we’ll continue to build Bandcamp around our artists-first revenue model, you’ll still have the same control over how you offer your music," Diamond adds, ensuring that initiatives like Bandcamp Friday will proceed as intended.
