BandLab Technologies has announced the acquisition of Aiode, an AI-powered digital music studio built around fully licensed audio-to-audio models, marking the company's latest move to broaden its music creation ecosystem.

Announced on 15 July, the acquisition brings a third music-making platform into BandLab Technologies' portfolio alongside BandLab and Cakewalk. While BandLab focuses on accessible online creation and Cakewalk serves more traditional digital audio workstation (DAW) users, Aiode introduces AI-assisted workflows designed for musicians looking to experiment with performance generation and production.

Aiode allows creators to start from scratch or import existing audio before selecting musician- and style-based AI models to perform across a track. Users can direct performances section by section, generate alternate takes for individual parts, and export completed songs either as individual stems or full mixes.

One of Aiode's defining features is its approach to AI training. According to the company, every model is trained exclusively on licensed and traceable audio sourced from professional musicians, producers, and other licensed recordings. Models based on individual musicians are developed directly with those artists under their creative direction, with the aim of accurately reflecting their musical style while ensuring they remain involved in how their artistic identity is represented.

"Aiode shares BandLab Technologies' ethos of innovation and giving music makers every opportunity to find success," said Idan Dobrecki, CEO and Co-Founder of Aiode. "Since Aiode was founded in 2022, we've worked side by side with professional musicians to create technology that respects their artistry and keeps them involved in how their musical identity is represented. BandLab Technologies gives us the opportunity to bring that approach to more creators."

Blue Dobrecky, COO and Co-Founder of Aiode, added that joining BandLab Technologies provides a strong foundation as music creation continues to evolve.

"For Aiode, joining a group that understands both accessible creation and professional production is a rare fit," he said. "BandLab Technologies' breadth of experience gives us a much broader foundation for where Aiode can go as the ways people make music continue to evolve."

BandLab Technologies also highlighted Aiode's artist-first approach to AI development.

"What sets Aiode apart is that it was made hand in hand with musicians, who share in the value their work helps create," said Drew Silverstein, Senior Advisor, AI, Innovation and Strategy at BandLab Technologies. "That makes Aiode a natural fit for BandLab Technologies. We believe responsible technology and a product creators actually want to use should go together."

Following the acquisition, Aiode will continue operating as a standalone platform. Existing users will see no interruption to the service, while its current musician partnerships and licensing agreements will remain in place. Idan Dobrecki and Blue Dobrecky will also continue leading the company as CEO and COO, respectively.

BandLab Technologies also shared that native audio recording capabilities and additional DAW functionality are planned for future versions of Aiode, with more details to be announced at a later date.
