Every week, Bandwagon invites a guest to do a mix for us. Rather than a standard interview where the artist explains their influences, we figured it’d be more potent if you simply listened to the music.
We provide the context, they provide the sounds.
Originally from Scotland, Tom Shellsuit has actually been a prominent DJ within the Singapore music scene ever since he moved here many years ago. As the co-founder of funk and soul collective Pushin'On and a principal member of underground event promoters Sideshow, Shellsuit is well-known for organizing acclaimed parties (such as Oddisee's and Kutmah's recent forays to Singapore) and playing out wonderfully eclectic DJ sets. The noted vinyl collector frequently unleashes his enviable collection of rare tunes (ranging from boogie to hip-hop to everything in between) during his gigs, which is why his sets have come to be so celebrated. This week, Shellsuit crafts a rich mix filled with jazz, broken-beat, house and Afrobeat for us, and we can't wait for you to hear it.
Tom Shellsuit plays for Darker Than Wax's Redux event this Saturday at The Bar Above. Click here for more details.
