Bandwagon Mix #89: Nigel Lopez (Middle Class Cigars)

Since establishing the label in 2016, Middle Class Cigars' remarkable growth has been well-documented thanks to a steady stream of album releases by a talented roster of (mostly) Singaporean acts.

Fostering a line-up of young indie rock upstarts — from the sublime hooks of Sobs to the indelible wistfulness of Subsonic Eye — the label has sought to promote quality records meant to be "experienced as accompaniment in isolation." That's true for the most part with the label's Bandwagon Mix, curated and put together by their label manager and founder, Nigel Lopez.

A purveyor of the warm and fuzzy — he makes it a point to highlight the "love and warmth" that comes with a Middle Class Cigars cassette tape on their Bandcamp — Lopez's mix consists of a multitude of indie pop/rock acts with an ear for hooks, atmosphere and distortion. With some contributions by his label artists, this Bandwagon Mix is one for the weekends made best at home.

The label's latest release, Blue by Cosmic Child, is now available for purchase and streaming.
