Beatport has unveiled Track ID, a new music identification feature designed specifically for DJs, club-goers, and electronic music fans navigating loud live environments.
Available now on the Beatport mobile app, the new tool aims to solve a long-standing issue for dance music lovers: identifying tracks during live DJ sets where traditional apps often struggle. Unlike conventional music recognition software that relies on clean audio, Track ID has been engineered to work through noisy clubs, layered transitions, pitch-shifted tracks, and blended mixes.
According to the company, users can access the feature directly from the app’s main navigation bar. Once activated, the app listens to the surrounding audio and delivers real-time track results, which can then be previewed instantly and saved to a dedicated Track ID history for future reference.
“Sharing Track IDs has been a hotly debated topic amongst DJs over the years,” said Helen Sartory, Chief Revenue Officer at Beatport. “But we’ve come a long way since the days of covering up labels on vinyl; now there are hundreds of sites, groups, and apps all dedicated to IDing music.”
She added: “With the launch of Track ID, we’re now able to connect DJs to the music they’re looking for in the moment, and showcase the artists behind those tracks that really inspire.”
Beyond helping fans uncover IDs from packed club nights and festival sets, Beatport says the feature could also support wider conversations around artist recognition and performance royalties in the future.
“When DJs can easily identify and share track information, it benefits everyone,” Sartory explained. “What we hope to see is Track ID being used not only as a discovery tool, but in the future, building the foundations for accurate setlist reporting.”
Track ID was developed in partnership with seeqnc, an AI-powered music recognition and analytics platform focused on copyright transparency and music monetisation.
“At seeqnc, we build technology that unlocks revenue opportunities for artists and rights holders,” said Bernhard Famler, CEO and Co-Founder of seeqnc. “We’re proud to support Beatport in launching Track ID and advancing music discovery for the global DJ community.”
The feature is now available via the latest version of the Beatport app on iOS and Android.
