Beyoncé creates a safe space with new album 'Renaissance' — listen

Beyoncé is ushering in a new beginning with Renaissance.

On 29 July, the pop powerhouse released her highly anticipated album, Renaissance which she hopes "inspires you to release the wiggle". The record was first announced earlier this June, with the release of her disco-ready anthem 'Break My Soul'.

Ahead of the album's release, the 'Formation' icon shared that she began working on Renaissance during the pandemic which allowed her to create a safe space for herself, something she hopes the record will do the same for her fans.

"Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving," Beyoncé shares on Instagram. "My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are."
