BIGHIT MUSIC has released an official update as of 29 December on ongoing legal actions taken to protect BTS members from violations of their rights, privacy and safety.

In the notice, the company stated that throughout the fourth quarter of 2025, it initiated legal proceedings against individuals responsible for writing and spreading malicious posts about BTS. These posts were identified through fan reports and internal monitoring across multiple domestic online communities, music platforms and international social media channels.

BIGHIT MUSIC reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward defamatory content, including false information, insulting expressions and AI-generated rumours involving the artists. The company confirmed that a fine has already been imposed on one individual responsible for malicious postings, and added that it will continue pursuing criminal punishment in other ongoing cases currently under investigation.

The update also addressed repeated safety breaches near BTS members’ residences. According to the notice, incidents included illegal activities, attempts to approach artists’ homes, stalking behaviour and unauthorised filming. BIGHIT MUSIC stated that these cases were reported to law enforcement immediately upon confirmation, with the company cooperating fully by providing evidence and relevant materials for investigations.

BIGHIT MUSIC's statement details:

"We maintain a policy of taking legal action without compromise or leniency against malicious acts, such as defaming or using insulting expressions toward our artists, generating or spreading rumors based on false information, and manipulating or distributing false information using AI. As part of these efforts, we would like to inform you that a fine has been imposed on an individual who posted insulting content about our artists on an online community. We will do our utmost to ensure that criminal punishment is imposed on cases still under investigation.

Meanwhile, there have been repeated incidents of serious violations near artists’ residences, including illegal activities, attempts to approach the residences, and stalking. We report these cases to the police as soon as they are confirmed and actively cooperate by providing the necessary materials for the investigations. The prosecution has requested summary orders for some of these incidents.

Unauthorized visits to an artist’s residence, following them, waiting for or observing them near their residence, filming their residence, and other actions that threaten their privacy and safety, as well as writing defamatory or malicious posts related to their private life or creating or spreading false rumors, are all subject to criminal penalties. In particular, leaving objects near an artist’s residence without permission also constitutes stalking. Such behavior causes severe psychological harm to the artist and is therefore absolutely unacceptable under any circumstances. We will continue to respond to any acts
that threaten our artists’ privacy and safety with the highest level of strictness."

Just earlier in the year, on 30 August, Jungkook's Seoul residence was broken into by a 40-year-old woman who was later arrested by authorities. This update from BIGHIT MUSIC is crucial in the move toward helping artists set boundaries with their fans to prevent them from being placed in dangerous and often threatening situations.

The notice stressed that visiting artists’ private spaces without consent, following them, waiting near their homes or filming their residences poses serious safety risks and causes severe psychological harm. It further noted that even leaving objects near an artist’s residence may be considered stalking and subject to criminal penalties under applicable laws.

BIGHIT MUSIC concluded by urging fans to support BTS through respectful and considerate behaviour, emphasising that protecting artists’ safety and privacy is essential to maintaining a healthy fan culture. The company reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening protective measures and continuing its efforts to safeguard the group.
