LISA is bringing her love of cinema to her latest solo release.
The BLACKPINK star has released her new EP PRESS PLAY on 23 October via LLOUD Co./RCA Records, alongside a music video for focus track ‘Tarantino’. Conceived with a movie in mind, the six-track project invites fans to sit down and press play.
That film-inspired approach takes a literal turn in the ‘Tarantino’ video, which follows LISA through a hotel on a mission to deliver a note to her favourite director, Quentin Tarantino. Getting there involves more than finding the right room: she throws punches at anyone standing in her way, with action sequences driving her journey through the building.
PRESS PLAY also features previously released single ‘SaWaDiKa’, which takes its name from the Thai greeting for ‘hello’. Its accompanying video was filmed in Bangkok and, per the announcement, surpassed 70.8 million YouTube views within its first 24 hours. The track debuted at No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100.
LISA gave ‘SaWaDiKa’ its television debut at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she also won Best Pop for ‘Dream’, becoming the first solo K-pop artist to take home the category.
The EP arrives ahead of her VIVA LA LISA residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Set for six nights in November, the run expanded with two additional dates after the initial four shows sold out in under 10 minutes.
Her move into film also extends beyond music videos. Directed by Sue Kim, the documentary Always Lalisa recently arrived in cinemas worldwide following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. It follows her solo career around the release of Alter Ego, the launch of LLOUD, and her solo Coachella debut.
