As we gear up toward the World Cup 2026 season, FIFA is certain that this year's edition will make history as it's set to hold three separate opening ceremonies across the three host countries, Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

The World Cup has always been a celebration of unity and togetherness, but this year it also gives a massive spotlight to creating an electrifying atmosphere as it highlights the synergy between sports, spirit, and music. The opening show in the United States is set to happen at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium on 12 June.

Fans count down to that day as one of K-pop's favourite Thai princesses, none other than BLACKPINK's LISA, is set to ignite the stage, commanding the spotlight between cheers as her voice reverberates through the crowd. Her inclusion in the lineup marks yet another historic moment in the iconic World Cup universe as she is the first Thai artiste and the first female K-pop act to headline a FIFA World Cup opening ceremony. LISA becomes a symbol of representation as K-pop talents begin dominating large global stages.

Iconic pop royalty Katy Perry is in the mix along with alt-rock's Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morissette. Also joining the bill is Future, ready to hype up the crowd alongside one of the most prolific Latin artists of all time, J Balvin. Tyla also dazzles the lineup as her performance is sure to make the crowd lose their breath. Anitta and Rema also take their place on a glittering list of performers bound to get the crowd on their feet before a thrilling opening match between the United States and Paraguay.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino shared more about the opening ceremonies and their significance as he explains, "The world will share this moment and that is how this tournament will begin. Starting with Mexico City and continuing the next days with Toronto and Los Angeles, these ceremonies will bring together music, culture and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament,” he added.

With more artists to be announced, this year's trio of opening ceremonies are not only a melting pot of genre but culture, representing the diversity of each host country and the world. As we kick off the World Cup 2026 season with a banger lineup of performers, the whole world comes together united by music and spirit as we cheer on for the winning team despite background and differences.
