MTV announced their nominees for the upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) 2022 last Wednesday (12/10), and fans are delighted to discover that some of their favorite Asian artists are in the running.

For the Best Asia Act, K-pop group TXT and Indonesian singer-songwriter NIKI, both of which will be touring Asia in October and December respectively, are nominated. Other nominees include Filipino singer, actress, and model Maymay Entrata, Thai-Italian singer-songwriter SILVY, and 16-member Japanese dance and vocal group THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE.

Artists in the Best K-Pop category include BLACKPINK, BTS, ITZY, LISA, SEVENTEEN, and TWICE. Both BLACKPINK and BTS were also nominated for Biggest Fans and Best Metaverse Performance. BLACKPINK's 'Pink Venom' was also nominated for Best Video. SEVENTEEN bags two nominations: Best New and Best Push.

Harry Styles received seven nominations, including Best Artist, Best Song, and Best Video. Taylor Swift, on the other hand, has six nominations, including Best Artist, Best Pop, and Best Longform Video.

The MTV EMAs 2022 will take place in Düsseldorf at PSD Bank Dome in Germany. Voting across 19 gender-neutral categories is now open on the MTV EMAs website until 10 November at 5:59 AM SGT.
