BTS' RM talks musical beginnings, personal art collection, his museum "curation" on Instagram, and opening his own art space and cafe on Intersections: The Art Basel Podcast

These days, museums and art galleries are classified under two categories: the ones BTS' RM has been to, and the ones he has yet to visit.

A known art aficionado, the BTS leader's Instagram feed is full of snaps of his museum visits in Korea and across the globe, as well as a glimpse of his own personal art collection.

Taking his love for art one step further, RM, whose real name is Kim Namjoon, kicks off the second season of Intersections: The Art Basel Podcast. Hosted by Marc Spiegler, the global director of international art fair Art Basel, the show invites artists, artists, architects, gallerists, designers, musicians, and collectors to share and talk about their love and passion for the arts.

On the podcast, RM talks about his beginnings as a musician, growing up with and becoming global superstars as BTS, buying his first-ever art piece, inspiring fans to visit museums (also known as Namjooning) and sharing his own personal art collection with other art lovers via a public space with a cafe. According to RM, collecting art “really gives me the standard to live as a better man, as a better adult, and [as] an artist. I just want to make music like the timeless pieces that I admire.”

He also shares how grateful he is to ARMY (fans of BTS) for admiring his [art] posts and taste. "My Instagram... it's kind of like a curation. And the fans visit [the museum] after me when I post it. It's really great that people could love one's taste and be there [to] visit the museums. If 300 people see the same artwork, that's 300 different feelings."
