RM is bringing Korean art and history to the global stage.
The National Museum of Korea announced that the BTS leader has been appointed as its first-ever global ambassador, recognising his longtime interest in Korean traditional culture and art.
RM, whose real name is Kim Namjoon, has been a vocal supporter of Korean art and cultural heritage. In 2021 and 2022, he donated 100 million won to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, which works to preserve and reclaim Korean cultural assets held abroad.

“I want to do my part so that the beauty and value of our cultural heritage can reach more people,” RM shared.
As global ambassador, RM will take part in the museum’s promotional campaigns and help introduce Korean history and traditional culture to international audiences.
The appointment also comes ahead of RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me, an exhibition built around his personal collection. Opening in October at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the exhibition will feature around 200 works from RM’s collection alongside pieces from SFMOMA.
