ARMY, prepare to feast: the wait for new music from BTS is nearly over.
BIGHIT MUSIC released an animation trailer hinting at the message behind BTS’s upcoming release, ARIRANG. The teaser was unveiled across the group’s official social media channels, offering fans their first glimpse into the project’s concept and storytelling direction.
According to the description accompanying the video, the animation draws inspiration from a historical account published by The Washington Post on 8 May 1896, titled Seven Koreans at Howard. The story documented seven young Koreans studying in the United States, some of whom later recorded what are believed to be the earliest known audio recordings of Koreans in Washington, D.C., on 24 July of the same year.
These recordings also captured the first-known audio version of the traditional Korean folk song ‘Arirang’, which has long been regarded as a powerful cultural symbol in Korea.
The teaser reimagines this historical moment through a modern lens. The video’s description notes that the animation reflects the cultural significance of these early recordings, which preserved the voices of young Korean men and the earliest recording of ‘Arirang’. It also clarifies that the production may diverge from historical events and is not intended as a formal evaluation or interpretation of any specific historical figure or moment.

Alongside the animation teaser, BTS also revealed a new group photo for ARIRANG, marking the first official image tied to the upcoming release.
