BTS' V talks accepting "both sides of himself" in upcoming album 'Proof'

V just opened up about his doubts ahead of the release of BTS' upcoming album, Proof

Ahead of the release of the group's highly anticipated anthology record, the BTS member—who is also known as Kim Taehyung—shares about the journey he's had throughout his nine-year career, navigating through his artist persona as V and who he is off the stage.

"I tended to think of Kim Taehyung and the artist V as being separate and thought that I had to choose one or the other. That was when I thought hard about who I was as a person and I felt a bit confused. Artist V performs on stage and enjoys himself with ARMY. But Kim Taehyung spends ordinary days with family and friends,” he explained, in a video clip posted on 17 May.

Often torn between his two sides, the 'Snow Flower' act further shared how pondering which songs to include in BTS' Proof led him to accept himself fully. Amongst the album's 48 tracks, V chose to include his solo song 'Singularity' off of the group's 2018 record, Love Yourself: Tears, and '00:00 (Zero O'Clock)' from 2020's Map Of The Soul: 7

“Now I’m able to accept both sides of myself, but also keep them separate,” he continued. “I’ve lessened the burden of thinking so much, too, just like how the day resets at midnight. But I think all this time I spent pondering is the proof that made me into who I am today," said V.

BTS' Proof is slated for release on 10 June 2022. The album features songs from the group's nine-year career chosen by the members themselves, as well as three new songs.
