C86 Holdings has acquired The Face from Wasted Talent Limited. In a joint statement released on 26 May, the Singapore and London-based announcement confirmed that the iconic culture publication will now enter a new chapter under C86 Holdings.

First launched in 1980, The Face became a defining voice across music, fashion, style, and youth culture. The title ceased publication in 2004 before being relaunched by Wasted Talent in 2019 as a digital platform and quarterly print magazine.

Wasted Talent is a global music and lifestyle media company whose portfolio includes Mixmag, Kerrang!, and The Face. The company describes Mixmag as “the global authority on dance music,” while The Face is billed as “the original home of style.”

Kuok Meng Ru, Founder and Principal of C86 Holdings, said: “Some brands matter more than others, and The Face is undeniably one of them. I want to thank Ian and the Wasted Talent team for trusting me with the stewardship of this very special brand as it enters its next chapter. The work now is to carry its legacy forward with the care and ambition the brand deserves.”

Kuok is also the Group CEO and Founder of Caldecott Music Group, whose portfolio spans BandLab Technologies, NME Networks, and Vista Musical Instruments.

Ian Flooks, Chairman of Wasted Talent, added: “Meng is someone I've known and respected for many years. He has a rare combination of genuine passion for culture and a proven entrepreneurial track record of starting, relaunching and nurturing iconic brands, and evolving them for the future. I have every confidence that The Face is in the right hands.”
