Catriona Gray has been crowned this year's Miss Universe.

The singer-fashion model and former black belt martial artist won the Philippines its fourth Miss Universe crown at the IMPACT Arena in Bangkok on December 17 (Monday).

Gray, who released her first single 'We're In This Together' for her advocacy to bring together education and creativity for Filipino children, wowed the audience with her final word at the beauty pageant:

I work a lot in the slums of Tondo, Manila and the life there is very…poor and it’s very sad. And I've always taught myself to look for the beauty in it. To look in the beauty in the faces of the children and to be grateful. And I would bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson. And this I think, if I could teach people to be grateful, we could have an amazing world where negativity could not grow and foster and children could have a smile on their faces.

All proceeds from 'We're In This Together' go to Young Focus, a local organization that looks to improve the mental, physical and social well-being of young people in poor communities by means of education, health care, and personal support.
