Chappell Roan has addressed a recent incident involving a young fan in São Paulo, sharing her side of the story and issuing an apology after backlash online.
The situation surfaced over the weekend when Brazilian footballer Jorginho alleged on social media that a security guard connected to the pop star had aggressively confronted his wife and daughter during breakfast at a hotel they were both staying in ahead of Lollapalooza Brazil.
According to Jorginho, his daughter — excited to spot an artist she admired — briefly walked past Roan’s table to confirm it was her, without speaking or asking for anything. He claimed that shortly after, a security guard approached their table and reprimanded them, accusing the child of being disrespectful and even threatening to file a complaint with the hotel.

The incident reportedly left the 11-year-old in tears.
Roan later took to Instagram to clarify that the individual involved was not part of her personal security team and that she had no knowledge of the interaction at the time.
“I didn’t even see a woman and a child… no one came up to me, no one bothered me,” she explained, adding that the guard had acted independently without her instruction.

The singer also expressed disappointment over the situation, calling out the assumptions made by the guard. “It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions… when there’s no action even taken,” she said.
Roan ended her statement with a direct apology to the family: “I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children… You did not deserve that.”
