In a simple Instagram story posted on her social media, Chappell Roan has announced that she will be departing from her music management company Wasserman Music Agency, led by CEO Casey Wasserman.
The ‘Hot To Go’ hitmaker stated in her statement that she believes that, “No artist, agent, or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own morals”. Her strong message has reverberated all over the internet, with several netizens rallying in support of the artist’s decision.

The decision to terminate her contract with the company ultimately came when emails exposing Casey Wasserman's flirtatious email exchange with Epstein case co-conspirator and convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell.
Other artists under Wasserman Music Agency have also spoken out against the CEO amid discourse, asking Casey Wasserman to step down from his position. Best Coast frontwoman Bethany Cosentino was among those who have pushed for Wasserman to quit his position as she shared, “I’m speaking out because pretending this is normal isn’t normal. Because people in power can’t keep skating by”. Additionally, the rock bands Wednesday and Water From Your Eyes have announced their departure from the management company, citing the connection between Casey Wasserman and the Epstein case as their reasons.

However, this isn’t the first time that artists have left Wasserman Music Agency amidst a scandal. In 2024, Wasserman faced allegations of sexual misconduct which ultimately led to Billie Eilish departing from the company, joining WME instead.
All in all, Chappell Roan’s departure underscores a growing reckoning within the music industry; one where artists are increasingly unwilling to separate creative success from ethical accountability. As more musicians speak out and walk away, the situation places renewed pressure on powerful institutions to confront uncomfortable truths and enact meaningful change. In choosing to leave, Roan joins a wider movement of artists drawing a clear line in the sand, reaffirming that values, transparency, and integrity are no longer negotiable in today’s cultural landscape.
