Charlie Puth has released his single ‘Beat Yourself Up’ today, offering a deeply personal glimpse into what he describes as his most explorative era yet. The track is taken from his forthcoming album Whatever’s Clever!, which is set for release on 27 March.

Co-produced by Puth alongside BLOODPOP, the song began as a message to a friend but quickly evolved into a broader reflection on self-compassion, growth, and learning to be kinder to oneself through mistakes. Speaking on the song’s inspiration, Puth shared that ‘Beat Yourself Up’ was his way of communicating emotions he had not previously expressed out loud.
As the writing process unfolded, he realised the message extended beyond one person, resonating with his own experiences and those of many others who are often overly critical of themselves. The release will be accompanied by an official music video directed by Hunter Moreno, which is set to arrive soon.
The single arrives alongside the announcement of Puth’s biggest world tour to date. The Whatever’s Clever! World Tour will kick off on 22 April at Viejas Arena in San Diego, before spanning 34 dates across North America. The tour will then head to Europe and the United Kingdom in the summer, with a mix of arena shows and festival appearances scheduled across multiple cities.

In addition to the new music and tour news, Puth has also been confirmed to perform at Super Bowl LX on 8 February in San Francisco. Whatever’s Clever! marks his next full-length release following 2022’s CHARLIE, and is positioned as a defining chapter in his ongoing artistic evolution.
