DJ and producer CHICHI has become the first Singaporean artist to sign with Make The Girls Dance, the house label founded by HUGEL and Juany Bravo.

Released on 30 October, his label debut ‘She Like It’ brings together indie dance, tech house drive, and Afrohouse rhythms. Built around rolling percussion and a vocal hook, the track has already found its way onto festival stages through HUGEL’s sets at Coachella and Tomorrowland ahead of its official release.

For CHICHI, the single draws on more than a decade of learning what connects with a dancefloor.

“I shaped this track around everything a decade of sets has taught me about what moves a room,” he shared. “Playing my own music for audiences around the world is something I’ve chased since I first got behind the decks. Being the first artist from Singapore to sign with this label is proof that chase was worth it. There’s a lot more of me still to come.”

CHICHI first took up DJing during his national service in Singapore. He has since played venues including Avalon, Behind the Green Door, Jungle Ballroom at Mondrian, and Tanjong Beach Club, as well as Miss Fish in Bali.

His time behind the decks has also included opening slots for ARTBAT, Shimza, Alan Dixon, and Bun Xapa. Shaped by dancefloors in Spain and Singapore, his sound draws on warm percussion and emotive melodies across Afro house, indie dance, and tech house.

‘She Like It’ is the first of several releases planned with Make The Girls Dance, with two further tracks already signed to the label.
