Chinese alternative rockers 小王XIAOWANG to drop debut album 'KACHAKACHA' this June

Estimated:  reading

The first studio album from Chinese alternative rock band 小王XIAOWANG is almost here.

The four-piece Beijing-based act have announced that they will be unleashing the 10-track project, titled KACHAKACHA, via independent record label Damnably on 12 June.

On the lyrical front, the record will be an exploration of themes such as female empowerment and the negative side of consumer society. Sonically, KACHAKACHA will possess a "rawness" derived from its dizzying mix of kawaii-core, punk, rock, and pop influences.

The album's launch will come a month after 小王XIAOWANG gave fans a taste of it via their 2024 single 'Steal'.

"So many feelings are mixed together. Because of this, it is so close to our real life, so that we are moved by it every time we play it," the band said of the track.

Formed in Beijing's Gulou area in 2017, 小王XIAOWANG cite Afrirampo, Bikini Kill, Rage Against the Machine, and Beat Happening as artists who have influenced their sound.

Fans can pre-order digital and vinyl copies of KACHAKACHA via 小王XIAOWANG's official Bandcamp page
