After an eventful 2025 celebrating the 10th anniversary of her beloved records Human Eyes and Riverchild, Clara Benin returns with her wistful single ‘muscle memory’.

Explore the moments of quiet devotion that comes with reminiscing a lost love that you just can’t seem to forget. It captures emotions of desperation in clinging on to fond memories, and conflicting emotions of frustration in wanting to forget them and move on, leaving you drowning in a sea of lost inside jokes and forgotten moments.

Clara puts the inspiration behind the track into perspective as she shares, “Like muscle memory, some people stay with you without you choosing to remember. I liked the idea of ‘muscle memory’ and started thinking about how it feels a lot like heartbreak, how your body and mind remember someone even when you’re trying to move on.”

Clara Benin first sketched the chorus on a random night, and months later shared a voice note of the early version with the DEL Brothers in Sydney. The song quickly came together, being completed in just four hours.

To mark the upcoming release of her EP, Clara Benin has also announced that she will be dropping a pre-album single ‘the one to blame’. She gives fans a glimpse into the track as she shares, “Most of the songs I’ve written live in heartbreak, longing, or existential spirals, but ‘the one to blame’ is me finally writing about actually letting someone in. It’s warm, cozy, a little dramatic, a little obsessive, and very self-aware.”

Playing cupid this Valentine’s Day, Clara Benin will perform the upcoming song ‘the One to Blame’ live at Eastwood City on 14 February. With ‘muscle memory’ and the upcoming single ‘The One to Blame,’ Clara Benin proves once again her gift for turning heartbreak and longing into beautifully honest songs. Fans can look forward to a heartfelt performance this Valentine’s Day as she brings her music and emotions to life on stage.
