Coco Elise return with their most emotionally resonant release yet — ‘Feel Like Rubber’, a lush, retro-soul-inspired single about love, freedom, and figuring it all out in your twenties.
The Perth-based duo — made up of Filipino-born drummer Isaiah Quintana and frontman/producer Josh Ellis — channel ‘70s soul with lo-fi intimacy, wrapping their reflections on modern romance in velvety brass hooks and dreamy textures. Co-produced by Calvin Bennett, the track nods to the warmth of artists like Clairo and Kurt Vile, while carving out a distinctly Coco Elise sound.

“At a certain point in your youth, you start weighing what you could achieve on your own versus staying in a relationship that feels familiar and emotionally grounding,” says Quintana, who grew up in Manila before moving to Australia.
Despite being based in Australia, Quintana stays closely connected to his Filipino roots, often visiting Tago Jazz Café in Cubao and brushing up on his Tagalog during trips back to Manila.
With previous support from Vice Australia, Rolling Stone Australia, and EARMILK, Coco Elise are quickly rising as one of Australia’s most promising new acts. Following the success of ‘April’s Shoes’ and a sold-out hometown tour, ‘Feel Like Rubber’ continues their upward trajectory.
