Here's how Coldplay's Philippine Arena concert unfolded according to social media – Jikamarie, Lola Amour, Dilaw, "number 1 traffic in the world," "best audience," proposals, and more

The two-night Philippine stop of Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour was a weekend for the books. Unexpected songs were chanted, love and praise were showered on both the band and the audience, people were proposed to, helicopters flew overhead, activities unique to the tour were mounted, and (bumper-to-bumper traffic) lights guided people home.

If that itch of FOMO is hitting hard, you can always turn to your friends on social media to catch you up on what went down at a show and feel the good feelings that were felt (or maybe make you feel even worse) as you scroll through posts and official tags. The Philippines is the top ninth country of social media users in the world after all (despite our not-so-great internet connection speeds), so you can always count on friends and fellow fans to share their experiences from a show—like Coldplay's—you should've been at.

From Lola Amour and Dilaw's surprise appearances to Chris Martin calling the Philippines the 'Yellow' act's best audience yet, here's what happened at Coldplay's two-night residence at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan last 19-20 January 2024, according to social media.

2023 was a massive year for Lola Amour with the power of 'Raining in Manila' taking them on to different heights. Last weekend, the Filipino rock act hit another milestone as they performed 'Raining in Manila' with Chris Martin himself. "SURREEEEAAAALL," the band posted on Instagram.

The second night of Coldplay's Philippine residency brought Baguio-based act Dilaw onstage to perform their song 'Uhaw'. "Di padin kami maka getover gengz. Umpisa palang ng taon parang season ender feelz na agad," Dilaw share on their socials after the once-in-a-lifetime show.

Coldplay's "best audience" to date

Filipinos are a humble people, but Pinoy Pride easily changes all of that. At the concert, Chris Martin called the Filipino crowd Coldplay's "best audience I've ever heard in my whole life." There's proof. Now hand over those eco-friendly medals.

#1 Traffic in the world, according to Coldplay

Manila traffic is so bad, it prompted Chris Martin to write a song about it onstage. He even noted, "We've seen some traffic, but I think you have the number one in the world." Number one! Let's go, Pinoy Pride!

Concert proposals

Concerts have become a crowd-favourite venue for people to propose at. We've seen it time and time again, but the sweetness of it never gets old.

Fans met the band

A bunch of fans scored a chance to meet Coldplay in person at the band's Philippine Arena show. Talk about dreams coming true!

Coldplay continue their 2024 Music of the Spheres Tour in Southeast Asia this week with six nights in Singapore and two nights in Bangkok in February.
