Croatian singer Marko Perković aka Thompson breaks world record for most tickets sold in a single concert

Marko Perković, better known as Croatian singer Thompson is set to break the world record for the most number of tickets sold for a single concert. 

Thompson's upcoming concert on 5 July at the Zagreb Hippodrome has already sold 281,774 tickets. The venue is a the horse racing track in the Croatian capital, which spans a massive 47 hectares.

130,000 were snapped up within the first six hours of sales, and tickets were completely sold out within the first day on 28 March. Promoters have just released additional tickets to the concert, so it remains to seen what the final tally will be.

Ticketing company Entrio expressed that it was “extremely proud” of its team for “handling one of the most complex ticket sales for a single concert in the world”.

“The Entrio engineering team worked for almost 30 hours straight, during an unprecedented rush of fans to buy tickets, to optimise the server infrastructure, solve a number of technical challenges, maximise sales, eliminate three powerful hacker attacks and ensure that hundreds of other events that we simultaneously sold in three markets were running successfully.”

Thompson’s concert is poised blow away the venue’s current attendance record of 80,000 fans set by The Rolling Stones in 1998. It also easily surpasses the current record for the most attended ticketed concert in history - 225,173 - set by Italian musician Vasco Rossi's 2017 concert in Modena's Enzo Ferrari Park.

Reportedly, Thompson is also in talks with Zagreb officials about holding a second show at the venue due to the overwhelming demand.
