Daniel Ryn is back with a raw and intimate return in ‘Struggling To Come Back’, a track that captures self-recovery in its most unfiltered, unromantic form.

Written during what he calls a “self-proclaimed retirement” from music, the Thai singer-songwriter reveals he never truly left. “Turns out, I loved it far more than I’d admitted to myself,” shares Ryn. “I still wanted to stand in front of a crowd that would understand this kind of song.”

The track, layered with lo-fi textures and late-night melancholia, is a gentle unraveling of burnout and inertia — a far cry from a cinematic comeback. Instead, the repeated chorus line, “Out of my head, out of my head, out of my head”, echoes the slow and uncertain work of piecing yourself back together.

Recording ‘Struggling To Come Back’ became an act of quiet persistence. Between soundchecks at Melt Livehouse — the 700-capacity venue he now runs in Bangkok — Ryn would sneak in late-night takes, sometimes returning at 2AM to play to an empty room. The track was completed with longtime collaborators Boss in Bang Na and Robert, who dialed in remotely while traveling in Spain.

With nods to Clairo, The Sundays, Damon Albarn, and Lou Reed, Ryn’s latest release fits right into a growing wave of introspective indie from Southeast Asia.

Known for his deeply personal songwriting and dedication to championing regional talent, Daniel Ryn continues to blur the line between venue owner and artist — making music in the in-between moments of daily life. With ‘Struggling To Come Back’, he reminds us that not all healing is loud — and that sometimes, coming back is just showing up.
