Elsa Mickayla announces 'SZN2', set to unveil sophomore album at launch party this July

Singapore singer-songwriter Elsa Mickayla is ready to turn the page on a new chapter of her musical journey.

The rising R&B-pop artist has announced the release of SZN2, her second full-length album, arriving on 10 July across all major streaming platforms. Following the release of her debut record SZN1 earlier this year, the new project sees Elsa diving deeper into themes of growth, healing, self-discovery, and emotional resilience through a collection of personal songs and collaborative efforts with artists from Singapore and beyond.

Blending contemporary R&B influences with warm melodies, laid-back grooves, and heartfelt storytelling, SZN2 continues to build on the sound that listeners have come to associate with Elsa's music. While maintaining the youthful energy that marked her earlier releases, the album also showcases a more reflective side of the singer-songwriter, offering an intimate look into her experiences and evolution as both an artist and individual.

At the heart of the album is focus track 'Getting Over It', a song that explores healing beyond heartbreak. Rather than centring solely on moving on from a past relationship, the track examines the process of unlearning emotional baggage, confronting fears, and choosing personal growth before stepping into new chapters of life. 'Getting Over It' reflects the stage of healing that comes after sadness has faded, focusing on self-awareness and developing a healthier sense of self.

A collaborative journey

One of the defining features of SZN2 is its diverse list of collaborators.

Joining Elsa on the album is UK vocalist Georgia Jade, who recently appeared in the Singapore run of Les Misérables. The project also reunites Elsa with long-time collaborator and Music Director Owen Li, alongside Quin, with both artists being members of acclaimed vocal group The Island Voices. Rounding out the guest list is Gareth Fernandez, who co-wrote this year's National Day song 'Sparkle' alongside Dru Chen.

Together, the featured artists bring different perspectives, musical influences, and experiences into the album, reinforcing one of the record's central ideas: that some of life's most meaningful journeys are shared.

The collaborations span several tracks across the album, from the reflective 'It's Only Us' with Owen Li to 'Rock With You' featuring Georgia Jade and 'The Dotted Line' with Gareth Fernandez.

Building on the foundation of SZN1

While SZN1 served as a collection of songs written over several years, helping Elsa reconnect with her passion for music and rediscover her artistic voice, SZN2 offers a more immediate reflection of where she stands today.

Speaking about the new album, Elsa shared: "Over the past year, SZN1 helped me rediscover my voice as an artist and reconnect with why I love making music. As I prepare to share SZN2 with the world, I wanted to create a space where I could talk more openly about the journey behind the music and celebrate this milestone with the people who have supported me along the way."

Album launch party set for July

To celebrate the release of SZN2, Elsa will host an Album Launch Party on 10 July (8 PM – 10 PM) at Port 37 (37 Keppel Road #04-01D) in Singapore's Tanjong Pagar Distripark. The event will bring together media, industry partners, supporters, collaborators, and fans for an evening dedicated to the music behind the album.

Guests can expect live performances, stories from the creative process, special collaborative appearances from artists featured on the album, and insights into what lies ahead for Elsa's career.
