What happens when LA’s mysterious alt-R&B duo meets one of K-pop’s smoothest crooners? You get ‘Call It Off’, a genre-bending, groove-drenched single that effortlessly fuses West Coast cool with Seoul-stirred soul.

Emotional Oranges—known for their elusive personas and cultishly loved discography—have tapped NCT’s JAEHYUN for their newest track, and it’s as silky and cinematic as you’d hope. The collaboration is the latest drop ahead of their long-awaited debut album Orenjii, arriving 16 May, and it’s already shaping up to be one of their most exciting works yet.

“This one is giving Popstar Papi 2-stepping in Seoul energy LOLLLL,” laughs Azad of Emotional Oranges. That vibe checks out—‘Call It Off’ is an atmospheric blend of glittering R&B textures, JAEHYUN’s lush vocals, and the kind of sonic chemistry that can only come from mutual artistic respect. According to Azad, the pair first connected in 2024 while working on JAEHYUN’s ‘Flamin’ Hot Lemon’, bonding over a shared love of ‘90s R&B and boy band nostalgia.

The track sits right at the heart of Orenjii, which leans heavily into Korean and Japanese influences in both sound and aesthetics. “If there was one word to describe Orenjii, it would be juxtaposition,” says the duo. “We wanted to blend worlds that typically don't belong together... and create a new feeling.”

From the slick vocal interplay between Azad, Vali, and JAEHYUN, to the subtle production details that nod to Seoul’s vibrant music scene, ‘Call It Off’ is a musical postcard sent from a world where borders blur and vibes reign.
