Celebrating a successful run of the Eraserheads: Combo On The Run, which earned the title of the Filipino documentary with the widest theatrical release in North America, Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia and director-producer Maria Diane Ventura visit select theatres in California as they shared their appreciation for how deeply the film has resonated and pride in carrying the joy of Filipino music and artistry across borders.
Maria Diane Ventura shared her sentiment of the overwhelming response for the film as she states, "It’s incredibly humbling. I feel a deep sense of gratitude to the audiences, to the critics, and to Abramorama for believing in the film and helping bring it to a wider audience."

Filipino fans all over the world have expressed their pride for being Filipino, watching a band from their country make it on the big screen all the way across the world. That special connection that was established with fans who feel at home even though they're miles away was one of the biggest achievements by the docu film outside of the awards and massive theatrical release across 100 cinemas.
"What’s been most meaningful, though, is the way people have responded on a personal level. I’ve had people come up to me and share that they found a sense of healing in watching it or that it made them feel proud to be Filipino. Hearing that makes all the hard work and exhaustion worth it. That, to me, is the greatest reward", Ventura adds.
At the heart of the movie is the message that despite our differences, be it country, language, borders or beliefs, music had, has and always will have the power to draw everyone closer, being the universal language of unity. Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is beyond just another film, it is a Filipino story making waves and touching the hearts of not only people who relate to and know about the culture and pace of life, but new people discovering Eraserheads and the vibrant diversity of the Filipino music scene.

The film places the band’s story within the Philippines’ divided socio-political climate, where their music becomes part of its cultural memory. With the current state of the world, plagued by division and conflict, a strong statement like this reinforces the power of music as it stands as an unwavering beacon strong enough to draw people together and withstand what may come.
The band's frontman Ely Buendia also expressed his gratitude as he shared, “To be embraced by the fans is proof that the film did something right. We didn’t want to let them down because this is their story too. And of course, to have the approval of the critics is icing on the cake. They have different standards and are not as subjective as the fans, so for them to think it was a good film, and a documentary at that, is quite amazing.”

With its deeply personal reflections and widespread international reception, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run stands as more than a documentary, it becomes a shared cultural milestone that bridges artists and audiences across borders. Through its journey from local legacy to global screens, the film reinforces the enduring reach of Filipino music, celebrating not only the band’s influence but also the unifying power of storytelling through sound.
