Veteran rockstars Eraserheads are set to unleash the story of their journey, their artistry and their impact on the Filipino music scene with the global release of their documentary film Eraserheads: Combo On The Run hitting Netflix on 30 May.
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable movie night that features never-before-seen footage and additional material in a re edited version of the film, offering an entirely unique streaming experience. After an extremely successful theatrical release in North America, the film is set to resonate with fans globally as they get to experience the Eraserheads' story from the comfort of their homes.
Director Maria Diane Ventura expresses how surreal it is to be a part of one of the most well received Filipino documentary films describing it as "incredibly humbling". She goes on to add that, "This film has always meant so much to us, and to see it travel beyond our borders in this way is very special. What’s been most meaningful is hearing how people connect to it on a personal level, the sense of healing, and the pride in being Filipino. To now bring that to a global audience feels like an extension of that, an opportunity to share who we are, our music, our stories, and our spirit, with the rest of the world.”

The reimagined cut of the film was an effort to resonate with audiences worldwide and really drive home the impact and cultural significance of the Eraserheads. To capture the emotions and moments that defined their rise, peak and now their legacy.
She also stressed that the re-edit refines rather than overhauls the original, making it clearer and more accessible to new audiences. “The re-edit was not about changing the story but about refining how it’s told. We want to make sure the emotional throughline remains strong while shaping it in a way that feels more expansive and accessible. Ultimately, I hope it becomes a story not just about a band but about connection, about finding ways back to each other, and about the possibility of healing, especially in a time when the world feels increasingly divided,” Ventura shares.

Eraserheads: Combo On The Run explores more than just the band's story but also underlines themes such as friendship, conflict, identity, and reconciliation in a raw and authentic representation of the journey of the quartet.
Ventura sheds light on the film stating, “We made sure this version provides enough context so that even if you’re entirely new to the band, you can still understand where they’re coming from and hopefully see something of yourself in that journey.”
By bringing Eraserheads: Combo On The Run to a global platform, the film extends far beyond a documentary, offering a deeply human story that resonates across cultures and generations. With its refined narrative and emotional core intact, this reimagined cut invites both longtime fans and new audiences to connect with the band’s legacy, proving that their story, much like their music, continues to find new meaning wherever it’s heard.
