Deerhoof are heading to Singapore for a one-night-only performance at the Esplanade Annexe Studio this June, bringing their genre-defying catalogue and famously unpredictable live energy to local fans.
Presented by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, the show takes place on 8 June at 7.30 PM. Expect an evening of jagged riffs, avant-pop hooks, free-jazz-inspired percussion, and the beautifully chaotic energy that has defined the San Francisco outfit for over three decades.

Fronted by the unmistakable Satomi Matsuzaki, the cult experimental rock band have long been celebrated for balancing noise and melody with thrilling precision. Across more than 20 albums, Deerhoof have continually reinvented their sound — from the surrealist pop textures of Milk Man to the art-punk urgency of Offend Maggie.
The band’s latest record, Noble and Godlike in Ruin, has been described by Pitchfork as one of their most abrasive releases yet. Inspired in part by the story of Frankenstein, the self-produced album explores themes of humanity, technology, and resilience while retaining the band’s signature sense of playful unpredictability.

Fans can also look forward to an opening set from Singapore trio Gnaw, whose emotionally charged blend of fuzzed-out alt-rock, digital noise, and hypergaze-inspired textures has been gaining traction in the local underground scene. Their latest release, Inside a Machine That’s Still Glistening, channels themes of exhaustion, memory, and catharsis through towering riffs and shimmering melodies.
With standing-room-only access and an intimate venue setup, the upcoming performance promises to be one of the year’s most visceral live music experiences for fans of boundary-pushing rock.
