The Filipino music community pays tribute to late guitarist Wally Gonzalez

Filipino rock guitarist Wally Gonzalez has passed away.

The news of the Juan Dela Cruz Band co-founder's passing was confirmed by his son John with a Facebook post, revealing that Wally died "peacefully in his sleep."

John writes, "My father passed away peacefully in his sleep earlier this morning. To his friends in the music industry and off, we are arranging for a short wake so that you can visit him post-cremation, as was his last wishes."

Wally Gonzalez, who shared the stage with Pepe Smith and Mike Hanopol as Juan De La Cruz Band, previously tested positive for COVID-19 and was later hospitalized due to a mild stroke in January.
