Rolando Luna is bringing the sounds of Cuba to Singapore.
The former Buena Vista Social Club pianist will perform with his trio at Capitol Theatre on 30 November, blending Cuban musical traditions with jazz improvisation. Presented by Vamp Productions, Rolando Luna Trío: Soy Cuba… y Más! begins at 8PM, with doors opening at 7PM.
The trio’s repertoire spans original compositions, Cuban and American standards, boleros, and danzones. Fans can expect familiar melodies reworked through fresh arrangements and spontaneous exchanges, drawing on Luna’s grounding in Cuban rhythms, jazz, and classical music.
Winner of the 2007 Montreux Jazz piano competition, Luna has contributed to more than 200 albums. His career includes ten years performing with Buena Vista Social Club and two decades accompanying celebrated Cuban singer Omara Portuondo.
Luna began his musical journey at 15, studying at Havana’s Amadeo Roldán Conservatory before Portuondo selected him as an accompanist. Alongside their international performances, he has built his own body of work as a pianist, composer, and arranger.
The Singapore show is supported by the Embassy of Cuba in Singapore, with the Foundation for the Arts & Social Enterprise named as its charity beneficiary.
