From The Sea's Morissette and Dave Lamar on bringing their love stories to life in their upcoming concert 'Feels Like Home'

There's just something so magical about music born out of love. It's heartfelt, sincere, and oh, so special — just look at From The Sea

Comprising Filipino acts Morissette and Dave Lamar, From The Sea is a duo formed out of their love for music and each other. While their individual discographies speak volumes, as a pair, they weave together enchanting melodies that unveil a mythical world of romance and bliss.

From The Sea—which was derived from the married couple's surname 'Lamar'—first welcomed us into their world in 2022 with an EP that soundtracked their very own wedding. Pieced together with moments from their own lives, the record was a testament to the love they have for each other as husband and wife but also the magic they have as a musical duo.

"After putting out our first EP which was the soundtrack of our wedding film, we loved the idea of being able to put out music that's unexpected from us as individual artists," Morissette and Dave tell Bandwagon. "We decided to go with a new artist collab name 'From The Sea' which translates to 'Lamar' in some languages, and so putting out these songs would basically be like gifting our listeners some of our most intimate stories and experiences through music."

This year, From The Sea return with more love letters as they ponder what could have been in their new album, If We Never Happened

"A lot of the tracks from this new album is really inspired from our journey as a couple, and going off of the title of the album, these songs would probably have never came to light if we never happened," share Morisette and Dave.

"Coming up with the concept was the easy part. The challenge is that we're also two individual artists and people who sometimes want different things to happen. But at the end of the day, it's what we both feel would be the best way to tell these stories that helps us make better decisions in working on these tracks and this whole project," they add.

To celebrate the new album and also their journey as a couple, From The Sea are bringing their stories of love and life to the live stage for the very first time. With a scene set to mimick their own living room, their show—aptly titled Feels Like Home—is specifically curated and created to let their fans into their most intimate and personal moments as a couple and musicians.

"Some of the songs from this album are actually several years old, and some we wrote only recently since we've been married. No one, except the two of us in our home, have heard these tracks live, that's why we're excited to finally get to share them at our upcoming show 'Feels Like Home'. It's gonna be very intimate, and we hope that the stories we share will bring even more life and colour to the songs," share Morisette and Dave.

Presented by Underdog MusicFeels Like Home is said to reflect the couple's story, right from the beginning of their friendship and blossoming romance to the lifelong partnership they now share. Directed by Jason Max, the show is a product of relentless collaboration and challenge between the pair and their team to create an experience that's so easy to sink into.

"Creating from a place of friendship and trust, staging From the Sea has been creatively freeing and refreshing. The creative process just flowed, and we built on each other’s ideas with so much tawanan [laughter], I must say. They’re the type of artists that challenge and elevate your ideas to the next level, and I love that," says Jason.

But beyond just celebrating Morisette and Dave as a couple, Feels Like Home is a journey through the highs and lows of a love so pure. It's a reflection of how life can work out for the better against all odds.

"From the Sea is a narrative of a God-orchestrated kind of love — a love that has journeyed the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. I hope that this show relates to everyone who will be able to watch it and, at the end of the day, really give hope that there is a greater Love that is real and will make things work together for good," says Jason.

Opening the show is another pair that bring comfort and warmth, even if you're in an alternate universe. Sibling duo and Underdog Music's newest artist Ysanygo will be taking the stage with their intricate tapestry of sounds and vibes to ease you into an enchanting evening.

This comes as the 'Imprinted' act's first project with their new label, a move they share is long overdue. "Being independent for 6 years, we felt that it was time to step out of our comfort zones and work with people who will help realize our dreams. It hasn’t been long since we signed, but we’re very grateful to have met the talented humans of Underdog Music! We look forward to creating more music and making milestones with the whole team," they share, adding that they're currently working on releasing their long-awaited debut EP.
