A GIF festival is set to take place in Singapore this October

2017 is the year of technological milestones – it marks the 10th year since the first iPhone was released, and now the 30th year since the art form we’ve all come to know and love, the GIF, was invented.

In celebration of this iconic moment in pop culture, Noise Singapore has teamed up with creative agency, Kult, to present NOISE x GIF Fest 2017, the largest GIF event to be held in Singapore thus far.

NOISE x GIF Fest 2017 — which takes place from October 5th to 11th — aims to capture the richness of GIFs and “explore its role as a form of digital art, entertainment and creative communication”. The event will feature an exhibition of over 50 shortlisted, original GIFs specially curated for the event, showcased through projections and large screens; as well as interactive art installations.

Other fringe activities include performances by local electronic duo .gif, and collaboration between Kiat, founder of Syndicate and spoken word poet Deborah Emmanuel on October 5th from 7pm to 10.30pm; as well as workshops and talks by key industry figures throughout the festival.

Admission is free, though pre-booking will be required for selected workshops and talks.
