Halik ni Gringo has just released new single "If You Ask Me To," debuting on Spotify's New Music Fridays. The band's first single since The Call of Booty LP, "If You Ask Me To" is our first look into what the band calls their "2st Debut Album."

"The song was recorded in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and all three versions were musically summed through a new just-patented harmonic technology," says vocalist Joey Santos.

On the songwriting process:

BANDWAGON TV

I ran out of life, love, and sex stories to sing about. This lack of inspiration brought me to a very dark place, so I shut myself off from the world between September 2016 to March 2017. I read many self help books and discovered my Myers-Briggs profile. I bought a pet rock. I was hoping that all these would give me focus, but I just ended up growing a beard. In the end, still no songs! My bandmates were getting impatient and angry, and some even had left. That’s when I became desperate, so I emerged from my cave, sat at my desk and forced myself to write. Lo and behold: songs!

On the album's concept:

[The 2st Debut Album] is a sprawling 77-song concept album set in the year 2057, where members of the band are faced with new life realities such as retirement, partying with your great great grandchildren, and arthritis. [It's] a letter that the band and I penned to and from our 70-year old selves. We want it to be a reminder that life is about living, not about living simply to work.”

Aside from its availability on streaming services Spotify and Apple Music, "If You Ask Me To" will also be available on limited edition Sony MiniDisc and cassette formats in Halik ni Gringo gigs while supplies last.
