On 13 November, Universal Studios Singapore hosted the official Wicked: For Good premiere as they rolled out the yellow carpet for Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh — celebrating the upcoming release of the film.

Fans who purchased tickets to witness the event and see their favourite witches and wizards definitely had their spirits high, almost ‘Defying Gravity’. However, in a now viral moment, a man jumped over the barricade, charging toward Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as they posed on the vibrant carpet. He threw his hand around Ariana's shoulder, jumping up and down before being dragged away by security. Cynthia Erivo held Ariana Grande back protectively, making sure she was alright.

Audiences may be wondering who this man is who caught Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, director Jon M Chu and even Ariana Grande off guard? Upon doing some sleuthing on TikTok, netizens have identified the man as Australian TikTok creator Pyjama Man.

Pyjama Man has built his online presence based on rushing artists and prominent figures on stage, including people such as The Weeknd, The Chainsmokers and even Katy Perry. He even ambushed the pitch at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia back in 2023.

@pyjamamann @Katy Perry 💙Dear Katy Perry thanks for letting me Dance on Stage 💙 you made my Childhood Memmory since 2008 💙 I Dreamed about meeting you! And now it has happened 💙 #sydney #katyperry ♬ original sound - Pyjama Man

People who witnessed his behaviour are scratching their heads to understand the motivation behind his actions — being unable to fathom that 15 minutes of fame could be such a valuable resource in today's digital world. True to his formula to go viral, this impulsive move of invading the grand Wicked: For Good premiere has definitely generated some buzz for Pyjama Man, with his video of the incident alone garnering over one million views — fueling his fire to orchestrate more stunts like this in the future.

All Singaporeans can say is that they hope this incident does not discourage Ariana Grande from coming back to Singapore in the future.
