Hattus returns again to release the last chapter of his three song EP with, 'but as a shadow'. They first rose to fame when their track, 'So Are We Platonic' surpassed 2 million streams and they amassed a follwing of 1.3 million fans on Tik Tok through their fantastic storytelling that had the ability to tug at fans' heartstrings.
The Filipino indie-folk bard first released, 'One with Orange Leaves,' which includes uplifting flute melodies paired with bouncy upbeat strings accompained by Hattus' layered harmonies creating the perfect prelude to the next track, 'Sounds of Splashing Stones' which has a fast paced beat giving the song a very danceable vibe.
'but as a shadow' varies from both of the previous tracks, presenting as a devastating ballad that uses delicate yet impactful lyricism and hushed and mellow instrumentals. It creates the perfect ending for the incredibly narrative 3-track EP. The lyrics say, "but as a shadow, I yearn to feel the light" perfectly capturing the sense of longing and the feeling of love and hope slipping out of one's grasp.
