The 19th Korean Music Awards is almost here.

Known to honour both mainstream and underground artists from Korea's vast music scene, this year's awards ceremony will be taking place on 1 March 2022 at 6 PM KST (4 PM JKT, 5 PM SGT/PHT) via YouTube. The Korean Music Awards or KMA have just announced this year's lineup of nominees which includes a mix of established acts and up-and-coming performers chosen by an esteemed panel of judges. 

aespa lead this year's nomination bill, being nominated five categories including major awards Rookie of the Year, Song of the Year for 'Next Level', and Album of the Year for their first mini-album Savage.

The girl group are also up for Best K-pop Song alongside BTS' 'Butter', TXT's  '0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)', STAYC's 'ASAP', and Weeekly's 'After School', as well as Best K-pop Album alongside CL's ALPHA, SHINee's Atlantis, BoA's Better, and Chung Ha's QUERENCIA. 

BANDWAGON TV

Multi-faceted artist Lang Lee is also nominated for three major categories including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for 'There Is A Wolf', and Album of the Year for There Is A Wolf. The folk act is also up for Best Folk Album, and has two songs nominated for Best Folk Song. 

Rounding out the nominees Artist of the Year category are Kim Hyun Chul, The Volunteers, BTS, and IU. 

The Volunteers are also nominated for Best Modern Rock Album for their debut self-titled record and Best Modern Rock Song for 'Let me go!'. While Soumbalgwang are up for Best Rock Album for Happiness, Flower and Best Rock Song for 'Dance'.
