Here & Now reinvent themselves as they move on to the next chapter of musical maturity and reflection with their single 'Kahapon'.
'Kahapon' blends their distinct modern hard rock and metal sound with heartfelt and meaningful lyrics that help to peel back the layers of the song to reveal a core message that gives the track a sense of awareness and feeling. The tune proves once again that Here & Now are going to expand their creativity as they continue to break free from the confines of the genre as they evolve to be masters of versatility while staying true to their signature musical flair.
Guitarist Patrick Poblador, who produced the track, expresses his sentiments behind it's story and the personal influences that went into making it as he explains, "It reflects a story for each and every person, not just the band.
Writing in Tagalog is actually a new thing for us, and we were also aiming to come up with a song that was aimed to target a wider audience, so we did have to sort of re-structure the song and tone it down – especially since our background was rooted in hard rock and metal. We did have our arguments, but hey – it’s all part of the process.”
Bassist Gab Palanca also goes on to reveal that this track acts as a sort of sequel for the narrative that began with their previous single 'Himala'. He goes on to explain how the flow of the track follows that character who stumbled upon his miracle in 'Himala' but is trying to separate himself from the past memories that continue to haunt him on 'Kahapon'. With this track, the band aims to conclude this character’s story, presenting it as his last chapter.
The band have also announced that the accompanying music video for 'Kahapon' will be released on 3 October via KNYA Collective.
When asked about what's next for Here & Now, vocalist Paco Santos shares, "At this point, there’s nothing concrete as far as new major targets. After the break we took last year in 2024, we all sat down face to face and collectively decided to keep moving forward."
He also adds, "We just want to keep releasing music consistently, hopefully release a full-length album by 2026 and keep playing live shows – gain experience and enjoy every part of the process. If there’s success in it, then I’d be a happy man. But really, I just want to play with the band, who’ve become more than that now – they’re my brothers.”
Here & Now have made it exceptionally clear with 'Kahapon' that they are exploring new avenues of music to establish their ability to capture the depth of the message that the song aims to share. As they mark another milestone with this track, they continue their journey of growth with each new chapter in their story.
